Welcome to Café Arbiru, a humble gem nestled in the heart of Monsanto, Portugal. This welcoming café is not just a stopover; it embodies the spirit of community and simplicity, making it a beloved haunt for locals and travelers alike.

As you step inside Café Arbiru, you’ll be enveloped by an atmosphere where time seems to stand still, echoing the sentiments of patrons like Mecanico do Paladar, who describe it as "espartano e simples," yet deeply characterful. Here, the lack of luxury turns into a charm that invites you to slow down and savor the moment.

Café Arbiru offers a delightful array of traditional Portuguese offerings that cater to every palate—ideal for pilgrims resting along the Caminho de Fátima or anyone looking for a hearty meal. The café is well-known for its exquisite pão (bread), flavorful queijo (cheese), and expertly brewed café expresso. According to Carmen Borges, you won't just get a meal; you'll receive a touch of kindness through the attentive service that makes you feel right at home.

For the adventurous eaters, savor the taste of bocadillos filled with savory jamón and cheese, as highlighted by Khris GM. Although options are limited after hours, as noted by Javier Alvarez, the café staff might surprise you with a customized dish if asked nicely. Each bite is not merely food but a story, a dip into the local culture.

If you’re considering a longer stay, Café Arbiru presents a unique option with rooms available for rent at incredibly reasonable prices, making it an ideal stop for budget travelers or pilgrims seeking a resting point. Serguei Khasimkhanov couldn’t have been happier with his accommodation for just €10—a small price for the comfort offered.

In short, Café Arbiru is not just about satisfying hunger; it’s about experiencing the authentic Portuguese way of life. Customers consistently rave about its blend of simplicity and warm hospitality, making it a must-visit whether you're on a spiritual journey or simply enjoying the scenic Portuguese countryside. So take a break, enjoy the warmth of the local culture, and let Café Arbiru refresh both your body and spirit.

Whilst on the Camino de Fátima I took my first break of the day at this place. It has the charming mix of simplicity and hospitality which is typical of so many Portuguese bars.

Rented out a room to me for 10 EUR. Couldn't be happier. My next best option was a 25 EUR hotel back in Amiais de Baiho. Not something a pilgrim can afford!

Typical portuguese bar in town. Cheap menu, ask for fillet with french fries and salad as in the photos. No suitable for vegetarians/vegan. If they have closed kitchen you can ask for some food and they may cook exclusively for you.
